Candidates who wish to pursue a nursing career in Australia, Canada or the US are required to pass the licensing examination developed and owned by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). The examination is called National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and is based on the computerised adaptive testing (CAT) format. Countries like Australia, Canada and the US are expected to have a shortfall in the requirement of nurses in near future. Indians being a major part of the healthcare sector of these countries, have a good opportunity there. There are two levels of NCLEX examination. National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) for registered nurses and National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN) for a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a licensed vocational nurse (LVN).
